With Edwards relocating to Central Asia experts warn of inevitable instability in Kyrgyzstan. This would benefit the US and hinder China's economic expansion to the east. What’s more, this move infuriates Russia, which does not need a hotbed of instability at its southern borders. After all, there is no guarantee that the flames of unrest would not spread from Kyrgyzstan to the neighboring countries.

On Nov. 7, Uzbekistan and neighboring Tajikistan reached a preliminary agreement to rejoin their power supply networks. According to the head of the department for strategic development of Uzbek state energy company Uzbekenergo, the country is ready to activate the 500-kilovolt line as well as the four 200-kilovolt lines built between the Uzbek and Tajik power grids. The announcement indicates relations are warming between Uzbekistan and its neighbors under Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

2018 Doing Business Report shows Central Asian economic reforms improve business opportunities

The Central Asian countries are continuing improving their economic situation to facilitate foreign business partners to do their business in the region, recent World Bank Group’s annual Doing Business 2018 said. According to the report, Uzbekistan, of all the Central Asian states, boasts the most improved economy and made the top ten list of "most improved economies in the world in 2016-17".
