Kazakhstani-Kyrgyz ties set example for integration in Central Asia

Both Astana and Bishkek are breaking ice and setting the tone for integration in the region, why can’t the others follow the suit? Central Asia is jammed between three hostile zones – Afghanistan, the North Caucasus and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China that pose threats such as religious fundamentalism, terrorism, poorly controlled migration and smuggling of drugs and weapons. However, mutual rivalry, interethnic conflicts and territorial disputes keep the states at a distance from one another.
