Qatar-Kazakhstan working to boost bilateral ties

DOHA: The bilateral relations between Qatar and Kazakhstan have witnessed significant growth in all sectors, including trade and investment in several promising sectors of the two fast growing economies. And the economic cooperation is expected to see major growth in the coming days as both sides are working aggressively to boost ties, said a top official of Qatar Chamber, yesterday.

This became possible as a result of concerted efforts made by both sides at all levels, especially the efforts exerted by the leaderships of both the friendly countries.

Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Towar Al Kuwari, First Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber said that Qatari-Kazakhstani relations have witnessed a clear development in all fields, noting that both countries’ leaderships exerted great efforts to both countries’ strengthen cooperation ties through mutual visits and meetings of all levels.

This came during a meeting hosted by the chamber with a Kazakhstani trade delegation led by CEO of the Kazakh Invest Saparbek Tuyakbayev in the presence of Qatar Chamber board member Mohamed Al Obaildy and the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Qatar Askar Shokybayev.

Al Kuwari noted that Qatar Chamber highly welcomes enhancing cooperation between Qatari companies and their counterparts from Kazakhstan, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between both countries’ chambers during the “Made in Qatar” expo last year.

The MoU aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Qatari and Kazakhstani private sector and increase mutual visits among both countries’ businessmen in a view with establishing joint ventures and projects as well as exchanging expertise between both countries’ companies, he added.

He said that Qatar has successfully managed to overcome the siege imposed by three Gulf countries thanks to its balanced economic policies and its external relations with all countries of the world.

It managed to transform the crisis into benefits. It has boosted and expanded its economic and trade cooperation with its trade partners worldwide.

The siege has also provided a good opportunity for businessmen to expand their investments in industrial sector, especially in food and medicine sectors which witnessed a great growth during the past two years, Al Kuwari added.

He affirmed that the new economic legislatives and laws have motivated businessmen to establish new projects that contribute to achieving the self-sufficiency in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

“The door is open for Kazakh companies to establish joint ventures with Qatari companies and take advantage of the incentives offered by the government to enhance investment in food security, industry and other fields,” he said.

He also said that trade exchange between the two countries is still below expectations.

On his part, the Ambassador Shokybayev said that economic cooperation between Qatar and Kazakhstan is open for the private sector, especially that there are huge potentials and opportunities available in both the countries.

He noted that Qatari market is important to Kazakhstan under the impetus provided by both the countries to increase their trade exchange.

He stressed the importance of mutual visits and B-2-B meetings between companies from both the countries in exploring available opportunities.

A presentation on investment climate in Kazakhstan and business opportunities was also delivered during the meeting.
