Thawing relations: Kazakhstani, Kyrgyz presidents agree to establish joint border control

For the past almost month and a half the Kazakhstani-Kyrgyz border has been under stiffened control by the Kazakhstani officials. Thousands and thousands of businesses have suffered financial losses due to the measures undertaken by Kazakhstan in response to the uncontrolled stream of contraband products from the neighbor. The polemic has been heightening between the, now former President of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambayev and Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev. However, with the new Kyrgyz resident elected, the two brotherly nations could finally see the situation at the border ease as both presidents agreed to work on the issue in Minsk at the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) meeting on 30 November.

According to its provisions, in relation to the situation regarding the long-term litigation against Kazakhstan by the Canadian mining company World Wide Minerals Ltd (WWM), the Central Asian nation is not obliged to fulfill the obligations of the USSR.

2018 Doing Business Report shows Central Asian economic reforms improve business opportunities

The Central Asian countries are continuing improving their economic situation to facilitate foreign business partners to do their business in the region, recent World Bank Group’s annual Doing Business 2018 said. According to the report, Uzbekistan, of all the Central Asian states, boasts the most improved economy and made the top ten list of "most improved economies in the world in 2016-17".
