Kazakhstan presents UN Security Council its vision on climate change mitigation

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - "Climate change is a 'threat multiplier' as it can result in poverty, food insecurity, illegal migration, social instability and bitter conflicts", according to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Yerzhan Ashikbayev, on 11 July, at the open debate of the United Nations Security Council dedicated to Understanding and Addressing Climate-related Security Risks, Kazinform has learnt from the Kazakh MFA's press service.

AKIPRESS.COM - An international conference dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the first protocol on water sharing of the Talas River between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan was held on June 27. The conference brought together representatives of regional administrations, specialized agencies, water sector specialists and representatives of the scientific community from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The parties discussed the history of water cooperation in the region, current accomplishments, challenges, as well as a strategic action program for the Chu and Talas river basins, the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia said.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will increase the number of flights. The relevant agreement was concluded in Astana by Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan Talgat Lustaev and Deputy Head of the Uzbek State Inspectorate for Supervision over Safety of Operations Oleg Lim, the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan said in a message.
